Karen Soulis

Karen Louise (nee Zell) Soulis, age 69 of Cannon Falls and formerly of Oakdale, died on Tuesday afternoon, August 21, 2012 at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island, where she has been residing the past four months. Karen was born on March 28, 1943 in Plainview, MN, the daughter of Lloyd and Evelyn (Tiedemann) Zell. She graduated from Wabasha High School in 1961, and later married Gerald "Jerry" Soulis on May 11, 1963 at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church in St. Paul. They enjoyed camping at the Cannon Falls Campgrounds for many years. She loved working at Hi-Quality Bakery in Cannon Falls, supporting the MN Twins, and doing Word Search. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry on January 2, 1999; and three sisters, Jewelette Hoffman, Adeline Kerby, and Lorraine Bright. She is survived by her children, Rick Soulis and Becky (Frank) Hauer, all of Lindstrom; two grandchildren, Andrew Soulis and Ashley Solland; and nine sisters and brothers, Janet Lorenzon of Grand Meadow, Henrietta (Jerry) Bond of Byron, JoAnne (Ernie) Roeber of Rochester, Jackie (Dave) Lubahn of Eyota, Diane (Gary) Lindstrom of Durand, WI, Dan (Patty) Zell of Madison, WI, Hugo (Molly) Zell of Ocala, FL, Ronnie (Geraldine) Zell of Richmond, WV, and David Zell of Milwaukee, WI; and many nieces and nephews. A gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 26 from 1-4 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Memorials are preferred to Pine Haven Care Center, Pine Island and St. Croix Hospice, Rochester.
