Another angel in heaven... Karen Sue Lindberg, age 70 of Cannon Falls, died on Saturday morning, September 14, 2013 at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, where she has been residing since June. Karen was born on November 25, 1942 in Austin, TX, the daughter of Frank and Jane (Rall) McLeod. She graduated from Marion High School in Marion, IA in 1960 and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Education from Bemidji State University in 1963. She has been a member of the Bemidji State University Alumni Association for many years. Karen married David V. Lindberg on August 24, 1963 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was a teacher at several schools in Minnesota, and later the Social Service Director at the Cannon Falls nursing home until retiring. Karen was a member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, and was an active life member of the VFW Post #4452 Auxiliary in Cannon Falls. She was a volunteer and donor for the Red Cross blood drives, and served as chairperson since 1980. She enjoyed making baby blankets and cross stitching. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a kind, caring and loving person. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed following their activities and events. She is the loving mother of Tamara (Mark) Berg and Angela (Brian) Lee, all of Cannon Falls; caring and devoted grandma of Rachel, Morgan, Aaron and Erica; daughter of Frank McLeod of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister of Ted (Val) McLeod and Clark (Mary) McLeod, all of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister-in-law to Bill (Meg) Lindberg of Cambridge and Jim (Pam) Lindberg of Monticello; and beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael David; husband, David on September 18, 1999; her mother, Jane McLeod. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Gary Schulz and Pastor Carol Sinykin officiating. Interment will follow with VFW Auxiliary honors at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls and on Thursday at church from 10-11 a.m. Memorials are preferred to the David Lindberg Scholarship Fund at Dakota County Technical College, VFW and VFW Auxiliary, Bemidji State University Foundation, and St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church. Active pallbearers will be Mark Berg, Brian Lee, Brian and Aaron McLeod, Brett and Ben Lindberg, Bob Davis and Duane Hermanson. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
