Julie Briese

Julie Briese, age 60 of Welch, passed away March 11, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Cannon Falls. A memorial service will be 7:30 pm, Friday, March 14, 2014 with visitation starting at 4:00 pm until the time of service at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls. Julie Darlene (Clemens) Briese was born to Richard and Yvonne (Jacobson) Clemens on December 5, 1953 in Jamestown, North Dakota, the oldest of 4 children. The family moved to Minnesota a few years later and while living in Welch, she graduated from Red Wing Central High in 1971. She married Eugene Briese from New Richmond, Wisconsin and worked as a bartender for many years until returning to Minnesota in 1995. Julie worked as a cook and finished her career at Red Wing Health Center. Julie enjoyed quilting, crafts, making snowman themed items, taking care of her dogs, camping and tubing down the Cannon River. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren. Many knew of her generous heart and she was always the first person to show up when help was needed. Julie is survived by her daughters, Juliane (Robert) Redding of Maiden Rock, WI; Randi (Michael) Widstrom of Cannon Falls; grandchildren, Ryan Gillman of Dickinson, ND, Cody Widstrom of Cannon Falls, Rachel Redding of Maiden Rock, WI, Megan Widstrom of Cannon Falls, Bobby and Katlin Redding of Maiden Rock, WI; great-grandchild, Cadence Gillman of Dickinson, ND; Parents, Richard and Yvonne Clemens of Welch; brothers, Randall (Tammy) Clemens of Welch, Timothy (Dawn) Clemens of Revere, ND, Kevin (Kathy) Clemens of Welch and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
