Joshua Adam Kowalkoski was born to Joseph and Jean (Swenson) Nord on November 8, 1978 in Denver, Colorado. Josh died unexpectedly in Portland, Oregon, December 12, 2010.
Josh is survived by his long-time partner, Misty Taule; parents, Armond and Jean Kowalkoski of Cannon Falls; brothers, Joseph Kowalkoski of Denver, CO, Jonathan Asher Kowalkoski (Valeria) of Vienna, Austria, Jeffrey Kowalkoski (Kate) of Minneapolis, and Justin Kowalkoski of Philadelphia, PA; and nieces, Gianna and Ilana. Josh is also survived by a daughter, Alexendria Kowalkoski.
In addition, Josh is survived by grandparents, Josie Swenson of Cannon Falls, Armond Kowalkoski, Sr. of Bay City, MI, and Stan Nord of Dennison, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Josh was preceded in death by his biological father, Joseph Nord; grandfather, Forrest Swenson; and grandmothers, Jane Kowalkoski and Doris Nord.
Josh was a quiet person with a great sense of humor that he shared with his family and friends. Josh especially enjoyed visiting with others one on one. Josh liked to work with his hands. He was artistic and among other things, created jewelry. Josh loved animals, especially dogs and cats, and also liked to spend time playing video games, watching movies, and reading books. Josh lived in Cannon Falls from 2004 until August, 2010. We will miss him. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Urland Lutheran Church, 6940 Co 9 Blvd, Cannon Falls, with Pastor Arthur Sharot officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at the church on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. Pallbearers will be Terry Jacobson, Todd Hanson, Chris Swenson, Trent Jacobson, Peter Swenson, and Ryan Quam. Memorials are preferred to Minnesota Teen Challenge, 1619 Portland Ave South, Minneapolis, MN 55404.
