Joseph Thiem

Joseph W. Thiem, age 35, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in Kenyon, Minnesota.

Joseph William Thiem was born in Cannon Falls on May 11, 1982, the son of Teresa (Mitchener) and John Thiem. He was baptized and confirmed at Vasa Lutheran Church. He grew up here and graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 2000. Joe worked for the Country Kitchen while in high school, then for the Heartland Gardens. He had formerly been a shift leader at Berquist and was currently working in the residential construction business. Joe loved going mushroom hunting, fishing, and spending time on his boat. He enjoyed waterskiing and tinkering with small electronics. Most of all Joe loved spending time with his kids.

Survivors include his mother Teresa (Brian) Morrill of Apple Valley, father John (Kristy) Thiem of Elk River, children Hannah, Gavin, and Mason Thiem all of Burnsville, and Dominick Thiem of Kenyon; brothers Bradey and Tyler Thiem both of Apple Valley, sister Courtney Thiem Barnes of Plymouth, step-brothers Ian Morrill of Brooklyn Center, Tory Morrill of Moscow, ID, and Duncan and Jackson Smith both of Elk River, maternal grandmother Carol Mitchener, paternal grandmother Joanne Thiem, niece Lila Neufeld, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Joe was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Arvel Mitchener, his paternal grandfather Alan Thiem, his maternal great-grandparents Donald and Adeline Banitt, and his brother Jason Rose.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Vasa Lutheran Church, 15235 Norelius Rd., Welch, MN 55089. There will be a visitation at the church from 10- 11:00 am, prior to the service. Interment will be in the Vasa Lutheran Cemetery.
