Joseph Becker

Joseph C. Becker, age 80 of Cannon Falls, died unexpectedly at his home on June 28, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, July 5, 2013 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton with Fr. Stan Mader officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Joseph Charles Becker was born August 23, 1932 in Hampton, Minnesota to John and Rose Becker. He attended St. Mathias Catholic School and completed his education by graduating from Farmington High School in 1949. Joe entered active duty in the US Navy where he proudly served his country. Following his military service he moved to California where he was employed by the McCulloch Motors Company before entering his career in law enforcement. Joe served as a Patrol Sargent with the Los Angeles Sherriff's department where he was employed for 33 years until his retirement. Joe was first married to Judith Robertson on December 1, 1985 in Las Vegas, NV and later received the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Brevard, North Carolina on December 1, 1999. They enjoyed over 28 years together. After Joe retired, they lived in Minnesota and North Carolina for several years before recently returning to his home area where they made their home in Cannon Falls. Joe enjoyed working around the house and being outdoors. He was a provider who lived his life with dignity, integrity and moral values. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Judith Ann; five children, Michael (Carolyn), Barbara, Terry, Joe, Charlene; two step-children, Jill and Adam; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren (one of which Joe was the God-Father to-Ivan Robertson); five siblings, Veronica, Imelda (Clem), John (Margo), Mary and Leo (Beth). Those preceding him in death were, daughter, Sherrie; his parents; four siblings, Ruth, Gerald, Mary Ann and Ralph.
