JoMar Dicke

JoMar Schlenker Dicke, a longtime resident of Goodhue, MN was born on July 31, 1937 in Peoria, IL and died at the age of 78 years on October 2, 2015 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. The second of three daughters born to Reverend John and Marguerite (Nolan) Schlenker, JoMar grew up and attended schools in Glasford, IL and was blessed to have made life-long friends there. On October 11, 1959, JoMar was united in marriage to Paul Dicke of Goodhue, MN, by her father in the Glasford Baptist Church. To this union they welcomed three children: Jolynn of Minneapolis, David (Kelly) of Winona, and Jennifer Favro (Bill) of Faribault. In 1973, after several years living in Goodhue, the family moved to the farm on number 6. JoMar loved all kinds of music; from J. S. Bach to Rod Stewart. For her 70th birthday, her daughters took her to a Rod Stewart concert—her one and only rock concert! She had a blast! Her favorite music was hymns and she knew a lot of them! A member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, JoMar was a Sunday school teacher, an altar committee member, assistant organist, and for many years sang in the choir. In addition to her husband of nearly 56 years, Paul and children, she is survived by four grandchildren, Emily and Natalie Dicke and Jee Paul and Kai John Favro. Also surviving are her sisters, Ruth (Joe) Blindt of Florida and Marilyn (Don) Mehaffey of Texas. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Goodhue. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 10 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation from 9-10 a.m., at St. Luke Lutheran Church, with Pastor Regina Hassanally officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery in rural Goodhue. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Luke Lutheran Church and Seasons Hospice.
