John Gorman John William Gorman, age 90 of Red Wing and formerly of Goodhue, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2016 at Ebenezer Deer Crest. John William Gorman was born on September 22, 1925 in Red Wing, the son of Ernest and Mary Evelyn (McNamara) Gorman. He graduated in 1943 from Goodhue High School, and farmed most of his life in the Belle Creek area. He married Jeanette Louise Johnson on September 18, 1947 at Church of St. Joseph's in Red Wing. He was an active member at St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Belle Creek Township. He loved music and passed that love of music to their five children. Along with farming, he was a 30 year board member with REA (Rural Electric Association), as well as serving on the AMPI (Association of Milk Producers, Inc) board for many years. John was outgoing, enjoyed socializing, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed being active in local, state, and national levels of politics. He also worked for many years as the Goodhue County Courthouse bailiff. John was proud of his Irish heritage, and was fortunate to travel to Ireland and meet relatives on his mother's side of the family. He loved celebrating St. Patrick's Day, which was one of his favorite holidays. He is survived by his children, Barbara (James) Augustine of Red Wing, William (Susan) Gorman of Goodhue, Rev. James Gorman of St. Paul, John (Stacie) Gorman of Red Wing and Judith (Donald) Safe of Goodhue; 11 grandchildren, Michael Augustine (Jessica Clemens), Jeffrey Augustine (Samantha Hublit), Benjamin (Nicole) Augustine, Peter Augustine, Joseph (Natalie) Gorman, Shelli (Jason) Fox, Lynette (Christopher) Payne, Calvin Swanson, Jamie Safe, Keith (Analise) Safe, and David (Heather) Safe; 19 great-grandchildren; Sisters, Sr. Vivian Gorman-OP of Sinsinawa, WI and Cecilia Becker of Providence , RI; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gorman of Red Wing, and Betty Johnson of Goodhue; many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Mary Gorman; his wife, Jeanette on December 8, 2015; 2 brothers and sister-in-law, Henry "Hank" Gorman and George (Dody) Gorman; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edna (Marvin) Freheit, Helen (Jack) Cremens, Leon (Eddie) Nelson, Elmer Johnson, Charlie (Esther) Johnson, and Doris Johnson. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 12 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls. Prior to mass, interment will be held at St. Columbkill/Holy Trinity Cemetery Saturday, August 13 at 9:30 a.m. officiated by Rev. James Gorman. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, August 13 at the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing at 11:30 a.m., with visitation 10:30-11:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow in the Holy Family Hall. Memorials preferred to Ebenezer Deer Crest of Red Wing, Mayo Home Care & Hospice, or to Donor's Choice.
