Joan Carol Larsen Nash, age 63 of Dennison, died on Monday evening, March 19, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Joan was born on August 10, 1943 in Minneapolis, the daughter of John L. and Helen M. (McEachern) Harvey. She graduated from the Bloomington High School in 1961.
Joan married Richard Larsen on January 12, 1963 in Inver Grove, and they farmed in the Dennison area. He died suddenly on June 2, 1995.
She married David E. Nash on September 6, 1997 at Vang Lutheran Church, near Dennison. He died on May 7, 2006.
Joan was a member of Vang Lutheran Church, where she was active in the ladies aid and helped with the annual lutefisk dinners. She enjoyed sewing, and had made Halloween costumes for her grandchildren, and had made her daughter's wedding dress. She also loved gardening and canning, traveling, playing cards, and going to different casinos. She especially loved her cats! Above all, spending time with her family and her grandchildren was most important to her. She will be greatly missed by her loving family!
She is survived by her children, Dean (Connie) Larsen of Dennison and Chris (Doug) Buan of Kenyon; 6 grandchildren, Tonya and Crystal Haugen, Jensina and Jay Larsen, Joseph and Shawn Buan; sister, Karen (Lenard) Larsen of Cannon Falls; sister-in-law, Sharon (John) Sommers of Mankato; and nieces and nephews and their families, Sheila Loya of Colorado Springs, CO, Rochelle (John) Manigold of Albert Lea, John Jr. (Kazumi) Sommers of Hawaii and Jim (Shari) Roberts of Sogn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, Richard Larsen and David Nash.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at Vang Lutheran Church near Dennison, with Pastor Gerald Gengenbach officiating.
Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. AT THE CHURCH. There will also be visitation at church on Friday from 10-11 a.m.
Memorials are preferred to Vang Lutheran Church.
Active pallbearers will be Leonard Dohmen, Larry Flom, Dean Erickson, Todd Bestul, Dwayne and Roger Buchta, and John Manigold. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald and Maxine Dohmen, Larry and Shari Buchta, Jim and Sharie Baszuro.
