Jillian Ruth Wood, age 44 of Cannon Falls, died on Sunday evening, March 31, 2024.
Jillian "Jill" Ruth Wood was born on January 22, 1980 to Diane and Craig Wood in Red Wing, MN.
Nicknamed "Jillybean" by her grandpa, she was very shy but had a huge heart. If somebody she knew came in the room to say hi, she would put her head down and ignore them. Despite being bashful, she always wanted to help people. She loved little kids and babies and would read books to the little cousins for hours if they wanted her to.
Jill grew up in Cannon Falls and stayed there when she started her family. Jill welcomed three daughters into the world: Tyreece Hailey Ruth Wood, Kaitlyn Skylar Wood, and Nevaeh Parys Diane Morris. As a parent, she took time to attend Inver Hills Community College classes while working. Family was always important to Jill, and she made a home for many of her loved ones throughout the years.
During her life, Jill held several different jobs. She was a PCA, worked at the Cannon Falls Nursing Home, and also worked at Wiederholts and Lorentz Meats for many years. Her roles at these places proved essential and both companies expressed how important she was to their successes. Jill was always a caretaker, supporting her mother, grandmother, children, nieces, and nephews.
Jill's strong sense of humor was infectious. She had a quick wit, and found humor in many places. It was common to see her eyes crinkle, hand covering her mouth to try and hide her laughter. She was passionate about making and sharing recipes, her shirt and merchandise business- Slothogy, and being a grandma. Jill had a knack for remembering details about a person. She would regularly push past her shyness to connect with people, especially during the final year of her life.
She will be missed dearly by those who loved her.
Jill leaves behind daughters Tyreece (Tegan) Gilligan, Kaitlyn Wood, Nevaeh Morris; Aleya Learman; two grandchildren- Oliver and Noah; brother Eric; sister Aimee; father Craig; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jill was preceded in death by her mother, two brothers, and grandparents.
A public service will be held for anyone that wants to attend. In honor of Jill's passion for others and shirt making, if you have a shirt she made, please wear it! The service will be at 11 am on Saturday May 11 in Hannah's Bend Park in Cannon Falls, with lunch to follow.
