Jeanette Walsh

Jeanette Mabel Walsh, age 74 of Cannon Falls and formerly of Randolph, died on Tuesday afternoon, June 3, 2014 at Mayo Health Systems - Cannon Falls Hospital. Jeanette was born on February 9, 1940 in Shakopee, MN, the daughter of Duane and Pearl (Wettstein) Melchior. She graduated from Shakopee High School in 1958. She married Robert "Bob" Walsh on July 22, 1961 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Shakopee. They made their home in Randolph for 28 years, where she provided daycare for area families. She also worked at Little Oscar's in Hampton. She and Bob enjoyed old time dancing. She especially enjoyed traveling to Mackinac Island. She had been a member of St. Mark's in Shakopee, St. Joseph's in Rosemount, and currently of St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Patrick; and sister, Marlene DeMers. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert "Bob"; daughters, Theresa (Pete) Godfrey of Apple Valley, Bridgette Walsh of Forest Lake, and Maureen (Paul) Leonard of Waterville; 11 grandchildren; brother, Michael (Ruth) Melchior of Carver; sisters, Sylvia (Russell "Bud") Jessen of Texas, Claudia Schroers of Shakopee, Paula Melchior, Marsha (Dan) Lee, and Cecelia "CeCe" Melchior, all of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6 from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at St. Pius V Catholic Church, Cannon Falls. A private interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandchildren, Morgan and Tony Godfrey, Jacob, Mitchell, Gilbert and Nathaniel Leonard. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Julie and Darla Walsh, Clara, Andrew and Samuel Leonard.
