Jason Douglas Provost, age 35 of Cannon Falls, died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, July 29 2009 at a friend’s home in Sturgeon Lake, MN.
Jason was born on June 7, 1974 in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of Larry and Janet (Holm) Provost. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, and attended Cannon Falls schools. While in high school, Jason was active in sports, including football, track, weightlifting and hockey. For many years, he held the football team’s single game rushing record! He graduated in 1992 from Cannon Falls High School, and went on to attend Winona State and Rochester Junior College.
Jason was known as a hard worker. He also enjoyed his free time, and loved to fish and spend time with his many friends and family. He especially loved his son, Talan and enjoyed their time together! Jason, also known as “Bunky” by his grandfather, Virgil Holm and “Sak” by his friends, will be remembered most for his infectious smile.
He will be always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He is the adoring father of Talan Duden-Provost of Cannon Falls; loving son of Larry and Janet of Hastings; beloved brother of Larry and Tanya of Hastings; and uncle of Gunnar and Mallory. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and their families, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Rosella Holm, and Rev. Hubert A. and Marjorie Provost.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Donald Bakken and Pastor Carol Sinykin officiating. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at the church on Saturday from 10-11 a.m.
Memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
Casketbearers will be Larry Provost Jr., Tom Crosby, Chris Ekstrom, Adam Peters, Josh Banks, Mitch O’Reilly, Hippie, The Dukester, and Kro.
