James Underdahl

James LeRoy Underdahl, age 75 of Cannon Falls, died at his home on Monday morning, September 9, 2013. Jim was born on April 23, 1938 in Holden Township, the son of Sanford and Ruth (Belverud) Underdahl. He graduated from Wanamingo High School on May 31, 1956. He served with the US Army from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1960. He returned to work at Armour & Company in South St. Paul from 1960 until 1979, and went to work at Menasha in Lakeville in 1980. He was in maintenance and was a boiler operator until his retirement in 2008. He married Deloris "Lorrie" Quam on March 29, 1971 in Watertown, SD. He enjoyed stock car racing and actively raced from 1961 until 1973. He raced again, his final race, on July 20, 2013 at the Cedar Lake Speedway. He will be remembered for his love of family, and his love of animals, especially his dogs and cats! He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lorrie; his children, Todd (Lori) of Hampton, Barry (Pam), Beth (Rick) Bailey, and Brett, all of Cannon Falls; 6 grandchildren, Brandon, Tanner, Casey and Ryan Underdahl, Brittney and Marissa Bailey; brother, Roger of Cannon Falls; sister, LuAnn (Don) Thill of Farmington; nephews, Bradley Thill and Deron Underdahl; and aunts, uncles and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Ruth; and brother, Lonnie. A Gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 13 from 4-7 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. A private interment will be held at the Little Cannon Cemetery in Holden Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pet Adoption of Cannon Valley.
