James Louis Meath, age 74 of Fruitland Park, Florida and formerly of Red Wing, died on Wednesday afternoon, November 21, 2007 at their home in Red Wing.
He was born on April 29, 1933 in Fargo, North Dakota, the son of Frank and Laura (Vore) Meath. He received his Electrical Engineering degree from the Wahpeton School of Science.
Jim was employed with Northern States Power Company for many years, in both Fargo, ND and the Red Wing Nuclear Plant, retiring in 1983.
He married Sharon Frisco on October 10, 1956 in Dilworth, MN. They made their home in Red Wing for 29 years, prior to moving to Fruitland Park, FL. He served with the U.S. Air Force, and was Master Sergeant at the time of his honorable discharge. He was a member of the American Legion Post #54 in Red Wing.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon; daughter, Sherry (Jeffrey) Baartman of Red Wing; sons, James Jr. of Red Wing, Joseph (Rhonda) of East Bethel, and Mike (Mary Kay) of Red Wing; eight grandchildren, Jesse, Chris, Andrew, Dan, Lindsey, Jami, Kelly Jon and Jessica; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Carson and Gage; two sisters, Patricia (Bill) Arth and Mary Jo (Herb) Reimer, all of Detroit Lakes; aunt, Dode Almquist of Lake Forest Park, WA; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John; and brother, Donald.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 25 at 4:00 p.m., with a visitation from 2-4 p.m., at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse, Chris, Andrew and Dan Baartman, Kelly Jon Meath, Randy Moore, Gavin, Carson and Gage Baartman, Rudy and David Urban.
