James "Jim" "Kro" Kronenberger Age 71, passed away suddenly Friday, June 10th. Jim was born January 13, 1945 in Mt. Vernon, NY to James W. Kronenberger Sr. and Teresa DeSantis Kronenberger. Jim grew up in Mt. Vernon/Larchmont area. Upon graduating high school, he attended Cortland State University in New York for one year before entering the United States Air Force. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller for the military and privately until 1981. He earned a Bachelor's of Science degree from Mankato State University in 1978. He worked for several local Cannon Falls businesses until he semi-retired in 2006. He was working seasonally at Syngenta up until his death. Jim met Bonnie Falkner in Wisconsin Dells in 1967. They wed on August 17, 1968. They had two sons, James Howard ("Jimmy" or "Jim") and Anthony ("Tony"). Jim and Bonnie moved to Cannon Falls in 1971 and continued to call Cannon Falls home to the present day. Jim was known to have a provoking sense of humor and found joy in time at the Vets Club, at the campgrounds in Oronoco, and enjoying all sports- specifically playing recreational softball, golf, watching his son play volleyball, watching football, and playing fantasy football leagues. Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie; his sons, Jimmy and Tony (June); grandchildren, Karmen (special friend Matt), Connor, Carson, Jack, and great grandson Chase. He is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and by his half-brother, Craig. He is preceded in death by his father, James Kronenberger; mother, Teresa DeSantis Kronenberger; stepmother, Eleanor Kronenberger; father-in-law, Howard Falkner; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Falkner. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18 at First Congregational United Church of Christ (220 W. Main St. Cannon Falls) at 11:00 am. A visitation will be held at Lundberg Funeral Home (5839 Hwy. 19 Blvd Cannon Falls) on Friday, June 17, from 4-7 pm. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service. A luncheon to follow at the VFW in Cannon Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army preferred.
