Irene A. Clemens, 76 of Welch passed away in the arms of her family on Thursday afternoon, December 3, 2009 at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center.
Irene Clemens was born March 27, 1933 in Griggs County, North Dakota, the daughter of Jacob and Gudren (Martenson) Jacobson.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Ralph A. Clemens on August 9, 1950. They spent their lives together on their farms in both Binford, North Dakota and Welch, Minnesota. Although they are residents of Minnesota, they spent time farming in North Dakota this past summer. Irene was an amazing woman who loved freely and will be deeply missed. Her life revolved around her family and she was a great blessing to all. “Her family was her joy and she was ours.” The devotion she had to her husband was second to none.
Irene is survived by her husband, Ralph of Welch and her children; Rick (Marcia) Clemens of Goodhue, Ron (Shari) Clemens of Wanamingo, Marilyn (Darnell) Montey of Vasa, Donna (Edwin) Bignell, Peggy Ziemer and her friend, Tim Erie and Jeff (Dee) Clemens all of Welch, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, her brother, Kenny (Chandra) Jacobson of Wanamingo, sisters; Gloria Clemens of Red Wing, Josie (Lawrence) Anderson of Washington state, Yvonne (Richard) Clemens of Welch, Millie Jacobson & Leah Meirs both of Hastings, her sister-in-laws; Dorothy Jacobson of Wanamingo, Fay Jacobson of Commerce City, Colorado, & Carmen Jacobson of Colorado. Also special to her are her dog, Spanky and Shiann, her colt.
She was preceded in death by her brothers; Rueben, Carl, Harry & Larry, sisters, Violet & Leona, her brother-in-laws; Marvin, Gordon, Keith & Mahlon, son-in-law, Earl and grandson, Dan.
