Henry Boyd Daniels, Jr., also known as "Heinie",age 84 of Cannon Falls, died on Friday morning, April 20, 2007 at his son's home in Bozeman, Montana.
Henry was born on January 16, 1923 in Stanton Township, the son of Henry Boyd Daniels, Sr. and Elizabeth (Robinson) Daniels.
Henry was born on a dairy farm in Stanton Township. He grew up on the farm and graduated form Randolph High School in 1941. He served with the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1951. He married Leatrice F. Bergstedt on November 1, 1952 at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. They lived for a year in California before returning to settle in Cannon Falls. Together they ran a women's and children's clothing store, "Lea's Ready-To-Wear" on main street in Cannon Falls for many years. Marc was born on May 27th, 1967.
Henry worked at Armour Foods as a millwright for over 30 years. After his retirement from Armour's, he continued to work as a bus driver for the Cannon Falls school district, and a maintenance person at the local nursing home and at the fairgrounds in Cannon Falls.
He served on the city council of Cannon Falls for many years. He was also a 50-year member of the Oriental Lodge #34 in Cannon Falls.
He was an avid gardener who grew beautiful tomatoes year after year. He also made the world's best refrigerator pickles. He enjoyed spending time with friends from the neighborhood, the bus garage, and around town, as well as family. He was a long-time Minnesota Twins fan. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, hunting pheasants, and playing cards. He spent the last few months of his life in Bozeman, MT, with his son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. He enjoyed the mountain scenery, telling stories over the dinner table and especially enjoyed the many cards he received from family and friends from his high school class and elsewhere.
He is survived by son, Marc and wife Sue of Bozeman, MT; grandson, Henry William and granddaughter, Nora Kay; brothers and sisters, Eleanor Dibble of Cannon Falls, William "Bill" Daniels of Cannon Falls, Peggy (Willard) Emery of Stanton, Roger Daniels of Inver Grove Heights, and Lowell "Dick" (Mary) Daniels of Stanton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leatrice on June 22, 1991; and brothers, Forrest and Eugene "Gene" Daniels; and sister, Marion Dack.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Gary Schulz and Pastor Arthur Sharot officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at the church on Monday from 10-11 a.m.
