Helen Lorraine Lindell, age 89 of Cannon Falls, said goodbye to this world and met her Lord and Savior face to face on September 23, 2008 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Helen was born at home on a farm near Pennock, MN, the daughter of Carl "Gustaf" and Ida (Carlberg) Akerson. She worked for her room and board while attending high school in Willmar. After graduation in 1938, she moved to Minneapolis to attend Business College. She worked for various businesses in the Minneapolis area. During WWII, Helen worked at the Durkee Atwood Company helping to manufacture life vests for the soldiers.
After meeting Kenneth Lindell from the Vasa community, they were married on June 9, 1945. They lived, farmed, and raised six children together in the Cannon Falls area. She enjoyed the opportunity to travel, and really enjoyed her trip with her husband to Sweden.
Helen was an active 50-year member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, where she was very involved in her church circle. She had been employed at Princess Toys (Slurp factory) in Cannon Falls for 10 years. She also enjoyed her Project Group, and her many friends at the Park Street Apartments.
Helen was a wonderful, hardworking mother, and a faithful friend. She will be remembered most for her love of family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Glenn (Linda) of Chippewa Falls, WI, Mary (Don) Cameron of Smackover, AR, Denny (Carlonna) of Jordan, Darlene (Roger) Newmaster of Oakdale, Diane (Bruce) Erickson of Coon Rapids, and Roy (Tina) of Cannon Falls; 16 grandchildren, Amanda, Dan and Josh Lindell, Donnie (Ginie) Cameron, Ron (Angie) Cameron, Brian Lindell, Andy Lindell (fiance, Michelle Coursoll), Alissa Lindell, Beth, Christin, and Joe Newmaster, Brandon and Michael Erickson, Rob and Matt Lindell, and Caitlin Duncan; 2 great-grandchildren, Keldon Cameron and Aaron (Audryanna) Cameron; and great-great-grandson, Jordan Cameron; sister-in-law, Bernice Hedstrom of Cannon Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth on April 9, 1976; infant daughter, Sharon; her parents; one brother and six sisters.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Gary Schulz and Pastor Dorothy Sandahl officiating. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at the church on Saturday from 1-2 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Dan, Josh, Brian, Andy, Rob and Matt Lindell. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Brandon and Michael Erickson, Joe Newmaster, Donnie and Ron Cameron.
