Helen E. Benson Helen E. Benson, age 98 of Cannon Falls, died on Monday evening, October 24, 2011 at the Augustana Health Care Center in Hastings. In 1995 she moved into the Park Street High Rise; while living there she wrote a weekly news article for the Cannon Falls Beacon entitled "Park Street News" reporting on life at the Park Street apartments. Every week her children would wonder what she would write about them this week. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and playing cards. Helen liked writing letters which she considered a lost art. She loved spending time with all of her family, especially at the cabin in Stone Lake, Wisconsin. She is survived by her sons, Dave (Jean) of Stone Lake, WI and Bob (Pat) of Rochester; daughter, Carol (Mike) Gorman of Eden Prairie; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
