Helen Buck

Helen Margret Buck, age 88 of Cannon Falls, died on Sunday morning, May 6, 2007 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.



Helen was born on December 14, 1918 in Belvidere Township, Goodhue County, the daughter of Henry and Katherine "Katie" (Kunde) Korsten. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue.



Helen married Silas M. Buck on September 21, 1940. They lived in Goodhue until 1954, when they moved to Cannon Falls. She was employed for 38 years with Kid Duds in Cannon Falls, where she was a seamstress.



Helen was one of the earliest members of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, where she was active in the ladies aid and taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She was the oldest living member of this congregation!



She was a member of the Golden Agers, and enjoyed playing bridge. For many years, she was also active in fundraising for Thrivent.



Helen loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family!



She is survived by her children, Kathy (Dale) Brekke of Apple Valley, Paulette Buck of Brainerd, and Phil (Gwen) Buck of Stillwater; four grandchildren, Tara (Ryan) Dorn, Katie (Nicholas) Quayle, Brianna (Dean) Schultz and Molly Buck; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Quayle, Taylor Dorn and Mikayla Schultz; brother, Howard Korsten of Red Wing; and sister, Eunice Battey of Chatfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Silas on 2-22-1966; son, Steven on 8-25-1980; and sister, Bernice Kjos.



Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Christopher Pratt officiating.

Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 8 from 4-7 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation on Wednesday at church from 10-11 a.m.



Active pallbearers will be Floyd Haeuszer, Joe Skolte, Charlie Palla, Doug Gysbers, Karl Hochmuth and Nate Kallies. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Friday Bridge Club, Virginia Hjermstad, Verdell Ludwitzke, Jane Ramstad, Lee Ellison, Gayle Prinzing, Mary Ferguson, Anne Burgoyne, John Ferguson, John Burch, Armand Miller, Rupert Schafer, Dee Setterquist, Elvena Schmugge.
