Heather Mercier

Heather Louise Mercier, age 48, of Cannon Falls, died on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Heather was born on June 4, 1976, in Cannon Falls, the daughter of Roman and Jean (Reger) Mercier. She grew up in Cannon Falls and graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1994. While in high school she played the French Horn in marching band, and enjoyed reading and coloring. Heather was a Girl Scout and received the Gold Medal, the highest award in Girl Scouting. She graduated from NDSU in Fargo with a Bachelor's Degree. While there, she played in the NDSU Marching Band. She went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education from the University of St. Thomas. She did her student teaching in London, England. Heather taught middle school full-time until 2010 and then as a substitute teacher until 2017. She worked for the 3M company for five years. She started work at Central Research Laboratories in 2022. She was diagnosed with cancer at the end of that year.

Heather is survived by her parents Roman and Jean, her siblings Carrie (Fred) Yerke, Jonelle (Lon) Albrecht, and Thomas (Christal) Mercier; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, as well as several aunts and uncles.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 am, at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 410 Colvill St. W, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the Church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Columbarium at St. Pius V Cemetery.
