Harry Smith Robinson, age 94 of Stanton, MN died peacefully on his century farm surrounded by love on Sunday evening, July 16, 2017. Harry was born at home on the farm in Stanton Township on January 17, 1923, the son of William T. and Martha C. (Smith) Robinson. Before meeting his bride he was faced with a decision to either keep playing baseball (which he was quite good at) or farm full-time. His family and the farm meant everything so he made the commitment to stay. Shortly after he met Betty Drentlaw at the Cannon Valley Fairgrounds during a dance, the rest was history. On November 18, 1944 they were married at the Methodist Church in Northfield. They were blessed with 5 beautiful children and were married for 73 years until Betty died on February 28th, 2017. After farming and baseball his passion rested in horseshoes and polka dancing, where he got the nickname Crazy Legs. He loved his vegetable gardening, especially for the V8 that he drank daily. He was always up for a conversation with a friend, a good game of Euchre, bowling or taking his grandkids for a ride in his Dune Buggy. Survivors include his children: Betty Ann Johnson, Harry Lynn (Sharon) Robinson, Marlene Wilson, and Sharon Stone; grandchildren: Barbara Lund, Jackie (Daron) Dulac, Larry (Becky) Robinson Jr., Jared Robinson, Colleen (Kyle) Rapp, Jason Robinson, Paul Olson, Josh (Sam) Robinson, Alison (Jared) Pokrzywinski, Gordy Stone, Clayton (Jessica) Wilson, Sara Wilson, Chad Wilson, and Mary Stone; 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; son, Larry; granddaughter, Karla Jean; great-grandson, Gavin Wilson; brother, William; and sisters, Evelyn Robinson, Luella Burch, Elizabeth Fox, and Martha McKeag. Visitation will be on Friday, July 21 from 4-7 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 22 at 11:00 am, with visitation from 10-11 am, at the Riverwood Community Church in Cannon Falls. Following a luncheon at Riverwood, interment will be in the Stanton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harry’s 8 grandsons and great-grandson, Bo Marks. Memorials are preferred to the Stanton United Methodist Church or the Stanton Cemetery.
