Harold Peterson

Harold C. Peterson, age 89 of rural Cannon Falls, died Thursday, October 4, 2018 at his home in Cannon Falls Township.

Harold Charles Peterson was born on October 25, 1928 in Red Wing, the son of Harry and Florence (Lundberg) Peterson. He lived his entire life on the family farm east of Cannon Falls. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1946, and attended college for a semester or two. He met Roselyn Secord at a church dance. On January 20, 1958 they were married at the North Emmanuel Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

Harold was a very active member of Vasa Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, the cemetery board, and singing in the choir. He also served on the board of the Vasa Spring Garden Insurance Company. Harold’s interests included four-wheeling, travelling with Rose, and farming. He particularly loved planting and harvesting. He loved spending time with his friends, neighbors, and family.

Survivors include his children Chuck and Sheri (Dan) Ruffele; grandchildren Angie, Brandon, and Brittany; ten great-grandchildren; sister Marlys Evanson; brother-in-law Ron Davidson; nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose in 2017, sisters Shirley (George) Peltier and Martha Davidson, and brother-in-law Sherman Evanson. Memorials are preferred to the Vasa Lutheran Church, the Vasa Museum, or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:30 am at the Vasa Lutheran Church, 15235 Norelius Rd., Welch, MN  55089. There will be a visitation on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 4-7:00 pm at the Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN  55009. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Vasa Lutheran Cemetery.
