Harlan Lundell

Harlan "Bud" LeRoy Lundell, age 84 of Cannon Falls, died on Saturday evening, September 24, 2011 at the North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. He was born on August 9, 1927 in Cannon Falls, the son of Carl and Florence (Holmes) Lundell. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School 1945, and went on to serve in the United States Navy. He married Virginia Anderson on August 31, 1951 at Spring Garden Lutheran Church. Bud worked for most of his life as a laborer for several construction contractors, he retired from McGough Construction in 1989. Bud loved to read, he especially enjoyed mysteries and reading the daily paper. He also liked sports; he played many sports in high school and later cheered on the Minnesota Gopher football team. Bud was a member of the Cannon Falls VFW Nelson Scofield Post #4452 where he enjoyed socializing with friends. After retirement Bud took up golf and looked forward to spending time on the links with his brother Harvey. He and Virginia also took many road trips after they retired visiting their son Daniel in New Jersey. He was a lifetime member of St. Angsgar's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Virginia of Cannon Falls; sons, Daniel (Susan Bonitz) of New Jersey, Randy (Sue) of Plymouth and Steve (Patty) of Shoreview; brother, Lyle Lundell of Cannon Falls; sister, Phyllis (Bob) Ellingson of Battle Lake; grandchildren, Rachel (Tony) Koehler, Emily Lundell and Erik Lundell; great-grandson, Owen Koehler; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harvey and Jerry; sister Carol Schlick; and brother-in-law, Edsel Anderson. Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 30th at 11:00 a.m., at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Schulz and Pastor Carol Sinykin officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29th from 4-7 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls and one hour prior to service at church. Interment with military honors will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Quam, Ken Peters, Keith Johnson and Mike McNamara.
