Grover Dennis George, age 77 of Cannon Falls and formerly of Bellechester, died on Friday morning, October 5, 2007 at the Cannon Falls Medical Center.
Dennis was born on November 12, 1929 in Belvidere Township, the son of Grover C. and Pearl M. (Hawkinson) George. He grew up in the Bellechester area, and later farmed there.
He served during the Korean Conflict with the US Marine Corps, and received a Purple Heart in combat.
He is survived by his sister, Virginia (Dick) Johnson of Lake Elmo; brother, Douglas George of Red Wing; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanley and Gordon George; and sisters, Florence Huppert and Delores Barringer.
No services will be held. By his request, his body has been donated to the Mayo Anatomy Bequest Program in Rochester. Interment of his cremated remains will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
