Grayden Clifford Moorhouse, age 96 of Randolph, died peacefully at home on Sunday, December 25, 2022.
Grayden was born on July 31, 1926 in Red Wing, MN, the oldest of four children to George and Verna (Miller) Moorhouse. He grew up in Stanton Township, farmed with his father near Sargeant, MN, before moving near Randolph in 1951. He served as a tank driver for two years with the US Army during the occupation in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge in 1956, he returned to farming, which he continued the rest of his life.
He married Loraine VanVoorhis on April 12, 1958 at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. They were longtime members of First English Lutheran Church, where he was an usher and served three years on the church council. Grayden enjoyed his Minneapolis Moline tractors and machinery and driving his tractor in different parades in the area. He was also a 50+ year member of the Masonic Oriental Lodge #34.
He is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Loraine; children, Kevin (Kathy) of Cannon Falls, Allen of Cannon Falls, and Gail of Randolph; grandchildren, Matthew (Rachel) Moorhouse and Stacy Moorhouse; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Addison; brother, Allard (Joyce) Moorhouse of Cannon Falls; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Verna Moorhouse; brother, Winton; and sister, Elwyn (Glenn) Brekke.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6 at 11:00 am, with visitation from 9:00-11:00 am, at First English Lutheran Church, 511 W. Belle St., Cannon Falls. This service will be live-streamed and available to view below. Pallbearers will be Matthew Moorhouse, Larry Brekke, David Janke, Tom Moorhouse, Gary Moorhouse, and Marie Otte.
Spring interment will be at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First English Lutheran Church and the Cannon Falls Food Shelf.
