Gordon D. Richards

Gordon Richards, age 82, of Dennison, died Friday, June 30, 2023 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Gordon Dale Richards was born on March 13, 1941, in Chatfield, MN, the son of Robert and Holly Richards. He grew up there and graduated from Chatfield High School. From 1960-1968, Gordon served in the U. S. Army. He was stationed in Korea, Germany, and throughout the United States. Following his honorable discharge, he received and Associates Degree in Accounting.

Gordon owned his own Janitorial Service, and also worked with HVAC Systems. He liked to travel, take long Sunday rides, and go dancing. Gordon enjoyed people and liked to joke around; he will be remembered for his good sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Richards, daughter Christy (Richards) Whipple; grandchildren Katie (Whipple) White, Jill Whipple, and Dawn (Whipple) Fredrickson; four great-grandchildren; sister Helen Bailey, as well as other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kevin Richards, two brothers and five sisters.

Interment with full military honors will take place in the Minnesota State Veteran Cemetery in Preston on Thursday, July 13 at 2:00pm.
