Glenys Cook

Glenys Jean Cook, age 81 of Cannon Falls, died at her home on Saturday morning, March 5, 2011. Glenys was born on April 23, 1929 in South St. Paul, the daughter of Fred and Vera Stoerzinger. She graduated from So. St. Paul High School, and later married Robert G. "Bob" Cook on September 6, 1947 at Grace Lutheran Church in So. St. Paul. They farmed near Farmington and West Concord, and they lived in Cannon Falls for a number of years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking and baking. Glenys was "the mother hen" of the Stonehouse Apartments, where she currently resided. Glenys had been a 4-H leader for many years in Dakota County, and was an active member of the Wangen Prairie Lutheran Church. Glenys loved her family, the many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren! She is survived by her five children, Carolyn (John) Korba of Lonsdale, Keith (LeAnn) of Kenyon, Kathy (Ronald) Meyer of West Concord, Cindy (Christ) Karsten of Faribault, and Craig of West Concord; 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne (Evelyn) Stoerzinger of Inver Grove Heights; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Martin of Oakdale and Marjorie (Stan) Ehlers of Northfield; many nieces and nephews; her cat, Phoebe; and many friends, including close friend, Renee Knopps. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob on December 21, 2001; and infant daughter, Nancy Marie. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Wangen Prairie Lutheran Church, with Pastor Curtis Fox officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at the church from 12-1 p.m. on Thursday. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Micky Korba, Andy Korba, Danny Korba, Christopher Cook, Brian Cook, Ron Meyer Jr., Rick Meyer, Jamie Karsten, Bob Karsten, Kyle Cook, Chad Plaster and Casey Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Patti Dietzel, Juli Baynes, Holly Flom, Kandace Bergevin, Rosemarie Lee, Kelli Branstad, Rebecca Lustig, Melissa Atkins, Katie Cook and Carly Cook.
