Geraldine Schiell

Geraldine Esther "Gerry" (Rehder) Schiell, age 77 of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday afternoon, August 3, 2010 at the Cannon Falls Medical Center. These last 9 years she lived a courageous life struggling with emphysema, C.O.P.D. and arthritis.

Gerry was born on May 20, 1933 in Goodhue, MN, the daughter of E. August and Esther (Mork) Rehder. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1951.

She married William Schiell Jr. on March 7, 1951. Gerry retired from Cannon Equipment in 1999. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Zion Chapter #6 in Cannon Falls for 30 years, and was a longtime member of Urland Lutheran Church, where she was confirmed and married.

She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Esther Rehder; her loving husband, Bill on April 16, 1989; grandson, Benjamin Schiell on September 27, 1998; two brothers, Elwood and Luverne Rehder; sister, Janice (Duane) Wilkinson; step brother, Wayne Rehder Sr.; half brother, Edgar Mork; brothers-in-law,?A�Wallace Spence, Herman (Elsie) Schiell, and Bud Knoblauch; and sisters-in-law, Monica Rehder, Gladys (Arnold) Sundheim, and Betty Schiell.

She is survived by her children, Wenzel E. Schiell of West Concord, Dennis D. (Lynn) Schiell of Dennison, Patricia B. Schiell (friend Bill Fernholz) of Cannon Falls, and Randall W. Schiell of Cannon Falls, 11 grandchildren, one foster grandson, 11 great- grandchildren, and 3 foster great-grandchildren; sister, Ardis Spence of Mesa, AZ; brother, Otto (Betty) Rehder of Hastings; sisters-in-law, Renee Rehder and Marcella Knoblauch, both of Cannon Falls, and Sara Jane Schiell of Big Lake; brothers-in-law, Hubert (Faye) Schiell of Stillwater and Eugene (Carol) Schiell of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Urland Lutheran Church, with Pastor Arthur Sharot officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.

Memorials are preferred to the Arthritis Foundation, or donor's choice.

Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Angela Schultz, Kimberly Grisim, Kelly Erickson, Matthew Grisim, Heidi Schiell, Nicholas Grisim, Dennis Schiell Jr., Rachael Howlader, Gerianne Grabau, William Schiell, and Samantha Schiell.

Honorary pallbearers will be her Godchildren, Debra Brown, Sandra Bushinger and Doug Schiell.
