Geraldine O'Connor

Geraldine Louise "Gerry" O'Connor, age 79 of Goodhue, died at home on Tuesday morning, September 23, 2008, following a brief illness. Gerry was born on December 16, 1928 in Red Wing, the daughter of Thomas and Lillian (Anderson) Brennen. She attended school in Red Wing, and graduated in 1947 from Central High School. Following high school, she worked for a time at Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing (3M). She married Edward O'Connor on August 31, 1950 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Miesville. They farmed in rural Welch and Belle Creek, and raised their family of four children. Gerry was an active member of St. Columbkill Catholic Church, and was a member of the St. Columbkill Rosary Society. She was also active in the Goodhue community, and was a member of the Goodhue Lioness Club, and a volunteer with the Blood Bank and various community events. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and attending her grandchildren's ballgames. She will greatly missed by her family and friends! She is survived by her children, Tom (Katie) O'Connor, Pat (Lowell) Schafer, Judy (Ron) Frederixon, and Dan (Jean) O'Connor, all of Goodhue; 15 grandchildren, Mike (Sarah) O'Connor, Bob (Mindy) O'Connor, Tim (Abbey) O'Connor, Mark O'Connor, Malory O'Connor, Brandon (Monica) Schafer, Brian (Heather) Schafer, Jodi (Joe) Sullivan, Shawn (Sandie) Frederixon, Kelli (Brian) Sontag, Scott Frederixon, Jenny (Cory) Berg, Shelly (Todd) Liffrig, Chris O'Connor and Haley (Nate) Ryan; 18 great-grandchildren, Reagan, Hallie, Colin, Carson, Kendrah, Madison, Maxwell, Kenneth, Ethan, Anika, Alexa, Brooklynn, Chase, Connor, Taylor, Caden, Andrew and Addison; sisters, Mary Ann Illa of Miesville and Kay (Ron) Gilbertson of Hastings; brother-in-law, Larry O'Connor of Peawaukee, WI; sisters-in-law, Jeannette O'Connor of Goodhue and Lorraine O'Connor of Milwaukee, WI; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward on March 16, 1991; two grandsons, Jerome and Patrick O'Connor; and her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Belle Creek, with Father Bruce Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Brandon and Brian Schafer, Mike, Bob, Tim and Mark O'Connor, Shawn and Scott Frederixon, and Chris O'Connor. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Jodi Sullivan, Jenny Berg, Kelli Sontag, Shelly Liffrig, Haley Ryan and Malory O'Connor.
