George Louis Lamberty, age 84 of Cannon Falls, died at his home on Tuesday evening, April 17, 2007.
George was born at Faribault, MN on May 31, 1922, the son of Louis and Laura (Van Thomme) Lamberty. He was raised on the family farm just north of Faribault, and attended country school in Faribault. He worked on the family farm, and left to serve with the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He entered on March 5, 1943 and was honorably discharged as a corporal on January 2, 1946.
George married Paralee A. Anderson on November 23, 1949 in Faribault.
Upon his return from military service, he had worked at numerous jobs prior to working with Dahlen Transport in Newport. He was employed as a truck driver for 35 years, retiring in January, 1986. After retirement, he kept busy doing many things, including driving school bus for the Cannon Falls School District for 13 years.
George was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, a 30-year member of the Cannon Falls Lions Club, and a member of the VFW Nelson Scofield Post #4452.
George had a colorful sense of humor, and enjoyed socializing with his family and friends. He loved his grandchildren and had special names for each of them! He will be remembered most for his love of cigars, and his generous nature when it came to helping anyone out!
He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Paralee; son, Kevin (Amy Mahowald) Lamberty of Lakeville; daughters, Christine (Ron) Klahr, Diane (Bruce) Brage and Sheryl (Barney) Flom, all of Cannon Falls; eight grandchildren, Richard (Jill) Klahr of Farmington, Laura (Rob) Clouse of Nerstrand, Robert (Shawn) Klahr of Randolph, Tony (Amy Fox) Flom, Samantha (Josh Robinson) Flom, Alex Flom, Nicholas and Rachel Brage, all of Cannon Falls; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca and Anna Klahr, Trevor, Victoria and Alan Clouse, and Elizabeth Klahr; brother, Frank Lamberty of Farmington; sister, Marian Berry of Wyoming, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Laura Lamberty; and infant sister, Doris.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 21 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius V Catholic Church, with Father Jay Kythe officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at the church on Saturday from 10-11 a.m.
Memorials are preferred to the Cannon Falls Lions Club or to donor's choice.
Active pallbearers will be his eight grandchildren, Richard Klahr, Laura Clouse, Robert Klahr, Tony Flom, Samantha Flom, Alex Flom, Nicholas Brage and Rachel Brage. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cannon Falls Lions Club, and his dialysis drivers.
