Gary Everett Round, age 69 of Cannon Falls and formerly of West Concord, died on Tuesday morning, January 22, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Gary was born on April 17, 1938 in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Lowell and Laura Round. He was raised by his grandparents, Maud and Everett Round in the West Concord area. He attended West Concord High School, and later married Lulu Belle Peterson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
Gary was a heavy equipment operator most all of his working career (since he was 12 years old) working for his uncle at Ross Round Construction. They lived in West Concord until moving in 1995 to Cannon Falls.
Gary enjoyed the outdoors, and loved fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. Later in life, he enjoyed camping. He loved spending time with his family, and they will miss him greatly!
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Lu of Cannon Falls; children, Valerie (fiance', David Morris) Grabinger of Waterville, Mary Lu (Bob) Bailey of Austin, TX, Brian Round of LaCrosse, WI, and Alan (Stacie) Round of Dodge Center; 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; two half sisters and two half brothers, all of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Teresa David of Kenyon on April 22, 2006, and Cindy Newville of Lake Lillian on October 5, 2006; and one half brother.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25 at 1 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Reggie Klindworth officiating. Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Following a luncheon, interment will follow at the Concord Cemetery in West Concord.
Active pallbearers will be Joseph Round, Brandon and Brent Baumgardner, Obert Musjgerd, Kenneth Blood and Wayne Harrington.
