Gary D. Anderson, age 82, of Randolph, died Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at his niece’s home in Hastings.
Gary Duane Anderson was born on June 1, 1940, in Pumpkin Hollow, the son of Douglas and Irene (Kolstad) Anderson. He grew up in Randolph and went to country school in High Prairie. The family moved to Randolph and then to Centura, Wisconsin. At the age of 16, Gary left school to become a mink rancher and a farmer. He retired around twenty years ago. Gary enjoyed going to auctions, estate sales, and collecting antiques. Other enjoyments included going to casinos, riding and caring for horses, and eating lutefisk and lefse. Although a very frugal man, Gary was known to be very generous with his family and friends. He will best be remembered as a gentle soul.
Survivors include his sisters, Verone Mortenson and Durene Mies; his brother, Larry Anderson; nieces and nephews, Candy (Lee) Volkert, Scott (Kim Sydnes) Mortenson, Todd (Mary) Haro, Troy Haro, Nicole Mies Anderson, William (Jody) Mies, and Autumn (Derrick) Lehrke; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 29, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 28595 Randolph Blvd, Randolph, MN 55065. There will be a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. This service will be livestreamed and available to view below. Interment will be at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
