Gale Ralph Callister, age 94 of West Concord, died at his home on Saturday, May 31, 2014 under hospice care and surrounded by his family. Gale was born November 10, 1919 on the family farm near West Concord, Minnesota to Bert and Edna (Wood) Callister. He attended the local high school and graduated in 1937. Gale was united in marriage to Betty Knivsland on August 28, 1942 and they lived and worked on the family farm where they raised their four children. Gale enjoyed spending time outdoors and going fishing and hunting. He also served as a Dodge County Commissioner for several years, was a long time township officer and ran an electrical business with his son. He is survived by four children, sons Alan (Lori) of West Concord, Tim (Barb) of Eagan, Kevin of Owatonna and daughter Susan Callister of Blooming Prairie; special friend Janice Sathrum; 8 granddaughters and 8 great-grandchildren; also nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members including sister-in-law Betty Knivsland and family. He is preceded in death by wife, Elizabeth; parents Bert and Edna; brother, Doug and sisters, Della and Avis. A "remembrance celebration" will be held Sunday, June 8th from 2:30-7:00 pm at the family farm, 52227 170th Avenue, West Concord, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Dodge Center Fairview Care Center, West Concord Fire Department, or St. Croix Hospice.
