Frederick Kahn

Frederick Herman Kahn, age 75 of Cannon Falls, died peacefully at home on Friday morning, March 31, 2017. Fred was born on December 5, 1941, the eldest child born to Frank and Marie (Schroeder) Kahn. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1960, and went on to serve with the US Army from 1962-1965. He was employed as a Master Electrician in new construction from 1978 – 2004, when he retired. He was a 36-year member of the IBEW Local #292, and a member of The American Legion. Fred married Orva "Bonnie" (nee Hopkins) Johnson on October 7, 1989 in Minneapolis, MN. They are members of First Baptist Church in Cannon Falls. Fred fixed many things around church; if anyone needed help, he would help fix it! He also enjoyed fishing with church buddies, working in his flower gardens, watching old time Westerns, and traveling to visit family. He is survived by his wife of over 27 years, Bonnie of Cannon Falls; daughter, Valerie Kahn of Bloomington; son, Randall F. Kahn of Minneapolis; step daughter, Jill Johnson of Cannon Falls; step son, Daniel (Noel) Johnson of Escondido, CA; four grandchildren, Chad Johnson, Justine (Trevor) Trokey, Jeremiah Johnson, and Tatiana Johnson; two great grandchildren, Daniel Dyle and Evangeline Trokey; seven siblings, Edward (Faye) Kahn, Marilyn (Dwain) Gerkin, Doris Kahn, Darlene Kranz, Betty Church, Frank Jr. (Judy) Kahn, and Richard (Cyndi) Kahn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie Kahn; sister, Sandra Mickow; and brother-in-law, Darrell Church. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation from 9-10:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church, Cannon Falls. Following lunch, interment with military honors will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m., Assembly Area # 2. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to First Baptist Church of Cannon Falls Active urn bearers will be his children, Randall Kahn and Valerie Kahn. Honorary urn bearers will be step children, Daniel Johnson and Jill Johnson.
