Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Age 84, of Hampton, MN On June 5, 2011, Florine passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and nine children. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, William and Elizabeth Kraus; grandson, Christopher Wellman; brother Vernon Kraus; and sister, Valeria Schuler. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Andrew Wellman; children Mary Wellman, Kathryn (Richard) Seitz, Paula (Edward) Gergen, Andrea (John) Jewison, John (Cynthia) Wellman, Maynard (Karen) Wellman, Joanne Wellman, Julianna (Jeff) Donwen, Gary (Caty Greseth) Wellman, 27 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister Lorraine Weiser; brothers Stanley (Audrey) and Dennis (Ardith) Kraus; many nieces and nephews.
Florine was born January 15, 1927 in Rosholt, SD, the second of six children. She spent her childhood on the farm, but then lived in Minneapolis while attending business school, eventually moving to Lincoln, Nebraska to work as a medical secretary. There she became friends with Gertrude and Clara Wellman, who introduced her to their brother, Andrew. She always said that after one look at Andrew, she knew that he would be the love of her life. She and Andrew married on April 25, 1950 and started their life together in St. Edward, Nebraska. Later they moved to Browns Valley, Minnesota, Wheaton, Minnesota and, in 1960, settled in Hampton, Minnesota where they spent the next 51 years together with their family of six daughters and three sons.
We will all miss Florine's sense of humor and wit, her beautiful faith in God, and her great love of family, especially the little ones. She was always surrounded by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was never happier than when she was holding a new baby. Although her health failed her over the last 20 years, her spirit was always strong and she was a shining example for all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 4-8 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 8 at 10:30 am at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton. There will also be visitation at church one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday. Interment will follow at St. Mathias Cemetery.
