Florence Mary (Stoffel) Munson of Cannon Falls, died on her 88th birthday, Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Florence Mary Stoffel was born on April 9, 1931 in Vermillion, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Meisch) Stoffel. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1949 and married Merlyn R. Munson on July 14, 1956 in Hudson, WI.
She was employed for 35 years at Kid Duds in Cannon Falls, until retiring. As she was one to keep busy, she continued to work at the Hi-Quality Bakery, Hardees, and Gemini. She loved to clean and was meticulous at home and work. She was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church, where she had been active in her circle. Florence volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was by her husband’s side with his activities. She was an avid card player, and enjoyed her time playing cards at the Trophy House.
Florence was proud of her family and especially loved her time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved having her family home, and they never left hungry! A special mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merlyn on April 13, 2013; son, Robert “Bobby”; and brother, Bernard Stoffel.
She is survived by her children, Steve Munson and fiancé, Arlene of Plainview and Machelle and husband, Ted Anderson of Cannon Falls; grandchildren, Keith and Jenny Munson, Dustin and Holly Anderson, Brook and Peter Erickson; great-grandchildren, Preston, Zoe, and Oliver Munson, Kalee and Cami Anderson, Brekken and Cara Erickson; sister, Betty Brickner of Northfield; sister-in-law, Bev Winchell of Cannon Falls; and nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Steve and Dick Winchell, Gene Stoffel, Jim and John Brickner, and Teri Nicolai. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
