Ethel A. Holm, age 78, formerly of Randolph, passed away Wednesday morning, January 6, 2010 at the Sunset Home in Kenyon following a lengthy illness.
Ethel A. Holm was born January 8, 1931 in Cloquet, Minnesota the daughter of Emil V. and Lempie H. (Johnson) Nelson. She was raised and educated in Cloquet and later worked for the Diamond Match Corporation there. She was married to Truman Savage from 1948 to 1961 and later was united in marriage to Theodore L. “Ted” Holm on January 12, 1963. The couple made their home in Wrenshall and later Eagle Bend where they farmed. In 1972 they moved to Randolph and Ethel worked in the grocery store for many years in Cannon Falls and retired from Arden Foods in Lakeville. She enjoyed reading, gardening, doing crossword puzzles and winning at Scrabble!
Ethel is survived by her children, Sandra (Thomas) Hillman of Duluth, Joe (Jeanette) Savage of St. Paul, Christina Bergeson and her significant other, Dan Loesch and David (Valerie) Holm, all of Northfield; 11 grandchildren, Rachel, Bret, Joshua, Jessica, Bobby, Ashley, Brandon, Jordan, Isaiah, Lindsey and Blake; and her sister, Marian Pellerin of Esko, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; two sons, Jeffrey and Steven; two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd. Cannon Falls, MN with the Reverend Steven Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Randolph. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Active pallbearers will Bret Hillman, Joshua Holm, Bobby Bergeson, Brandon Peterson, Dan Loesch and Christian Smith.
