Elma Ann Lyon

Elma Ann (Moorhouse) Lyon, age 84 of Minneapolis, MN died on Friday evening, March 9, 2018 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.

Elma Ann was born on August 18, 1933 in Glenwood, MN, the daughter of Arthur and Pearl (Miller) Moorhouse. She graduated from Randolph High School and went on to work at the St. Barnabas School of Nursing in Minneapolis.  She was the registrar of nursing students for 35 years. Following her retirement, she was a board member of the St. Barnabas Historical Society.

Elma Ann was a member of the Park Ave Methodist Church in Minneapolis for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star/Zion Chapter #6 for many years. She had been a Boy Scout leader and received the District Award of Merit from the Boy Scout Council. She loved all sports, and especially enjoyed following the MN Twins.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mel; sons, Dana (Laurie) Lyon of Minneapolis and Terry (Tricia) Hedin of Eugene, OR; grandchildren, Ashley (Steve) Marek, Matthew Lyon, and Trevor Hedin; great-grandson, Raymond Ramsammy; brother, Willis (Carol) Moorhouse of Cannon Falls; sister, Elda Mae( Bill) Thorpe of Southern Pines, NC; step daughters, Deborah (John) Ford of Myrtle Beach, SC and Wanda (Eugene) Rochat of Wichita, KS; step grandchildren, Judith, Shelley, and Scott and their families; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Arland Moorhouse.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15 from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 16 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at Randolph Baptist Church, 29020 Dawson Ave, Randolph, MN 55065.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Randolph Baptist Church.

Interment will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
