Eleanore Theodora (Brage) Miller of Cannon Falls, widow of Melvin Miller, entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning, October 10, 2010. Eleanore Theodora Brage, daughter of Robert T. and Ellen C. (Carlson) Brage was born on June 25, 1916 in Douglas Township, Dakota County. Eleanore was a graduate of Cannon Falls High School, class of 1934 and the Teachers' Training Department, class of 1935. She taught in rural schools in Goodhue County for several years. In 1947, Eleanore and her parents moved to Cannon Falls and became employed at Scofield Drug Store until she and Melvin Miller, a farmer in the Vasa area, were married on June 12, 1955. Melvin passed away on December 24, 1964. Eleanore moved back to Cannon Falls in 1968, but had begun working at Kid Duds Manufacturing in 1965 and continued until retiring in 1981. She was a member of Red Wing Swedish Singers the entire 20 years it existed and was involved with Shepherd's Center of the Cannon Valley from its beginning in 1994. Her church meant much to her; both Cannon River Lutheran Church of her youth and Vasa Lutheran Church. Eleanore enjoyed vegetable gardening, counted cross stitch especially Swedish pieces, quilting, genealogy and the hosta plantings near her home. Eleanore is survived by step-daughters, Dorothy (Walter) Roehlke and BettyAnn (Allen) Hernke; stepson-in-law Ralph Larson of White Bear Lake; sisters-in-law, Delores Brage of Brookings, S.D and Vivian Brage of Cannon Falls; seven step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Melvin; brothers Clifton, Alton, Burton and Kenneth Brage; and step-daughter, Marian Larson. Funeral services will be at Vasa Lutheran Church in Welch on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 11:00 am, with Pastor Kristi Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at the Vasa Lutheran Cemetery.
