Eleanor Ohmann, age 93, of Cannon Falls, died Saturday, January 18, 2020 at The View in Cannon Falls.
Eleanor D. Ohmann was born on August 30, 1926 in Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Clara (Troseth) Jacobs. She graduated from the Minnesota Farm School and attended a Nursing Program for a year. On March 3, 1946, Eleanor was united in marriage to Norman Ohmann at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Rich Valley, in Rosemount. In 1950 they moved to rural Randolph to farm and raise their family. In her early life Eleanor worked as a nurse’s aide at Bethesda hospital and at the munitions plant in Rosemount. Later she worked for Kid Duds, Princess Toys and many years at Sheldahl, from where she retired. Eleanor loved birds, gardening, embroidery, and bowling. She also enjoyed journaling about her travels south each winter – RVing with Norman, Bluegrass friends and family. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Randolph where she had been active in the Ladies Aid and as a Sunday School Teacher.
Survivors include her children Karen Holz, Colleen (Steven) Thompson, Stan (Mary) Ohmann, Carolynn (Randy) Ohmann-Villa, Kevin Ohmann, and Keith Ohmann; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sister Elizabeth Volkert. She was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Clara Jacobs, husband Norman Ohmann, brother Robert Jacobs, and brothers-in-law Darwin “Bud” Ohmann and Edwin Volkert.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Bell Tower Fund. Eleanor’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of The View for the wonderful care she received.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 27 at 11:00 am, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 28595 Randolph Blvd, Randolph, MN 55065. There will be a visitation at the church from 10-11:00 am, prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery in the Spring. Lundberg Funeral Home of Cannon Falls is assisting the family.
