Eleanor McCoy

Eleanor Katherine McCoy, age 87 of Cannon Falls, passed away peacefully at her home at The View in Cannon Falls on Friday morning, January 6, 2012. Eleanor was born on September 4, 1924 in Foley, MN, the daughter of Bartholomew and Katherine (Ditter) Ackerman. She married Martin H. McCoy on October 22, 1958 in Minneapolis, and they farmed together in Randolph Township. She had been an active member of St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. They were married for over 30 years when Martin died on February 24, 1989. In her earlier years, she loved to bowl. She enjoyed travelling, doing crafts and puzzles. She is survived by sons, Thomas (Wanda) and Harold (Cheryl); 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Gilbert (Albina) Ackerman, twin Evelyn (Arvin) Olson, Adrian (Katie) Ackerman and Kenneth (Mary) Ackerman: sister-in-law, Phyllis Ackerman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin; sister, Marion (Francis) Bauer; and brother, Duane Ackerman. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, with Father Jay Kythe celebrating. Following lunch, interment will take place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m., with a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m., at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Norstad, Kyle Kreisler, Paul Gergen, Pete Gergen, Randy McCoy and Steve Austin.
