Edna Mary Ohnstad, age 80, a long-time resident of Cannon Falls, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday afternoon, April 21, 2010.
Edna was born on August 17, 1929 in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of Felix and Francis Penney.
She met her future husband, Kenneth Ohnstad in 1952, while he was stationed in Newfoundland, Canada. In 1953 Edna moved to the states, and she and Kenneth married July 10, 1953 in Ft. Worth, Texas.
After moving back to Cannon Falls, Edna had worked at the Mineral Springs Sanatorium, and later retired from Kid Duds.
Edna had many interests including animals, music and cribbage. Her family was the most important part of her life!
She is survived by her children, Jeanetta (Bill) Kennedy of Regina, Saskatchewan, CAN, Vivian Quigley of Kamloops, British Columbia, CAN, and Richard “Ric” Ohnstad of Cannon Falls; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 52 years, Kenneth on December 21, 2005; her parents, Felix Penney, Francis Penney-Bennett and Dave Bennett; and half brother, Felix Penney.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 28, at 10 a.m., and a Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m., at the Urland Lutheran Church, 6940 Co 9 Blvd, Cannon Falls, with Pastor Arthur Sharot officiating.
Interment of her cremated remains will follow at the church cemetery.
