Edith Stanke

Edith (Brummund) Stanke, age 65 of Inver Grove Heights, formerly of Cannon Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Cannon River Lutheran Church, 10960 280th Street, Cannon Falls with Pastor Bob Berthold officiating. A memorial visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Boulevard, Cannon Falls and also one hour prior to the service at church. Edith Eileen (Brummund) Stanke was born at her family's home on May 1, 1948 to R.C. and Linda (Moll) Brummund. She grew up near Trout Brook, near Miesville, Minnesota the 5th child in a family of 9 and was a 1966 graduate of Cannon Falls High School. Edith was employed with the State of Minnesota for several years in assisting children that were being placed in foster care. In the mid 1970's she started working for the Cannon Falls High School where she served in a variety of different positions and enjoyed those she worked with. In 1997 she returned to work with the state in child services as a court liaison where she was employed until October of 2013. She loved spending time with her family especially her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edith enjoyed travelling to a variety of places but avoided bridges and tunnels when possible. She was an excellent cookie baker and collected cookie jars through the years. Christmas was her favorite time of the year which compelled her to decorate several rooms in her house with a different theme. She is survived by her daughters, Staci (Eric) Anderson of Cannon Falls, Nicole Fuller of Illinois; eight grandchildren, Bret Achartz, Ashley, T.J. and Chelsi Jeno, Timothy Stanke, Nichelle, Joshua and Jarrod Fuller; two great-grandchildren, Anastasia and Marley; sisters, Lorraine Thurber, Lydia Dingle, Susan Schauer and Joyce Brummund; brothers, Carl, Richard and Gene Brummund and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Amelia Jensen and brother-in-law Lornie Thurber.
