Dorris Brittain Flodeen, age 91 of Cannon Falls and formerly of Cadott,Wisconsin, died on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Cannon Rivers Senior Living in Cannon Falls, Minnesota.
Dorris was born the fifth child of twelve to Albin and Alta (Moses) Flodeen on May 21, 1932 in Allisona, Tennessee. He grew up in Tennessee and Missouri, and his family settled in Wisconsin when he was in his teens. He worked at Swift & Company in South St. Paul, John Deere, and Waldorf Paper Company, and was an overall talented handyman.
Dorris loved music! He and his siblings would play together any chance they got. His passion for playing multiple instruments came easily and was known to play wherever he was! He was self-taught and continued singing and playing throughout his whole life.
Dorris also enjoyed dancing, especially square dancing, a good nap, making jokes and loved the Lord.
Dorris had a trip of a lifetime to the Middle East; including Israel, especially Jerusalem and was baptized in the Jordan River on November 27, 1976.
He will be missed by his family. His children: Dan Flodeen, Dudley (Donita) Flodeen, Dennis (Lisa) Flodeen, Melissa "Missy" (Scott) Newman, Christopher (Nicole) Flodeen, Nancy Shilts, and Brittany Tomasek; 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; siblings: Kathleen "Kat" Scofield, Carliss (Shirley) Flodeen, Gene (Mary) Flodeen, Carolyn (Tim) Preston, Peggy Flodeen, and Margie Pilgrim; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Alta Flodeen; siblings, Oscar "Thomas" Flodeen, Josephine Keyes, Julius Flodeen, Charles "Dug" Flodeen, and Annabelle Bible.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, October 7 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at the Lafayette Town Hall, 5765 - 197th St., Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
