Doris Safgren Hesselbach, age 86 of Cannon Falls and formerly of Moorhead, Glyndon and Montgomery, died on Sunday afternoon, December 27, 2009 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Doris was born on October 5, 1923 in Fargo, North Dakota, the daughter of Olaf and Bertha (Thompson) Safgren. She grew up in Moorhead, and graduated from Moorhead High School. She attended Interstate Business School in Minneapolis, and worked as a bookkeeper at Dilworth School in Dilworth, MN and was a waitress for many years. She was employed as an assembler at Honeywell until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie" Hesselbach of Cannon Falls; grandson, Chris; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Freya, Amanda, Jessica and Jacob; sister, Irene Mikkelsen of Arizona; and sister-in-law, Joan Safgren of Sabin, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, William James Hesselbach in 1981; three brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, 7459 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, with Pastor Gary Schulz and Pastor Carol Sinykin officiating.
