Doris Elaine (Johnson) Egge, age 86, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, left her earthly life and entered peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday morning, September 8, 2010 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, where she has been a resident for the last 15 years. Doris was born at home in Cannon Falls on September 24, 1923, the daughter of Otto and Anna (Anderson) Johnson. She attended the Cannon Falls schools through the 9th grade. Doris met Julius "Pete" Egge as a young girl and he won her heart over, and they married on September 22, 1940 in Orrock, MN. As a young girl, Doris enjoyed walking by the railroad tracks and picking pussy willows and wild violets. She did work part-time as a waitress and dishwasher at local restaurants. As a young adult, she was a fun-loving person who enjoyed being a jokester. Doris was a lifelong member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. She enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, playing cards, and Bingo! Doris is survived by her children, JoAnne (Wayne) Danielson of Isle, Marie Berg of Byron, Richard (Joann) Egge of Cannon Falls, Roger Egge of Anchorage, Alaska, Linda (Jerry) Roney of Kasson, Janet (Joel) Vold of Cannon Falls, and Rosalie Egge of Cannon Falls; 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild and one expected in February; brothers, Kenneth (June), Merle (JoAnn) and Merlyn Johnson, all of Cannon Falls; sister, Vivian Quist of Cannon Falls; sister-in-law, Anna Johnson of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Julius "Pete" on October 25, 1982; daughter, Judith Nassif in 1982; son-in-law, Arnie Berg; brothers, Ted, Eddie, Clarence "Donkey", and Robert Johnson; sister, Florence (Louie) Cartwright; brother-in-law, Ervin Quist; and sisters-in-law, Lois Johnson and Gladys Johnson. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Gary Schulz and Pastor Carol Sinykin officiating. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael and Rob Nassif, James Egge, David Berg, Brian Roney, and Joseph Hoaglund. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to the chapel fund at Angels Care Center.
