Doris Armstrong, age 94, of Cannon Falls passed peacefully at Augustana Care in Hastings, MN on Saturday, June 6, 2020.
Doris Lorraine Armstrong was born on April 26, 1926 in Amboy, MN, the daughter of Lyle and Myrle (Marsh) Hemingway. Doris married Allen Dee “Pete” Armstrong on January 18, 1945 in Good Thunder, MN. Throughout her working life she had various jobs including homemaker, waitressing, manufacturing, and most of all enjoyed being a daycare provider.
She loved to listen to music, watch Lawrence Welk, and go dancing. She spent most of her life in Cannon Falls and was an active member at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed attending family gatherings but, making sure she was always home by dark.
Doris had a memorable smile, enjoyed baking, tapping her foot to music, twiddling her thumbs, and always had lemon drops on hand.
Survivors include her children Connie (Ed) Dulas of Mayer, MN, Gail Armstrong of Gaylord, MN, Mary Stephenson of Vermillion, MN, DeeAnn (Dean) Schmidt of Crookston, MN, and Jay (Diane) Armstrong of Hudson, WI.
Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sister-in-law Trudy Hemingway.
Preceded in death by parents Lyle & Myrle (Marsh) Hemingway, husband Allen Dee “Pete” Armstrong, son Larry Armstrong, sister Lois and brother-in-law Elvin Cordes, brother Harlen Hemingway, sister Frances and brother-in-law Irving Weisman, granddaughter Terri Stephenson, grandson Nathan Schmidt
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, June 12, 2020 at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church, 7457 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. There will be a visitation there from 10-11:00 am prior to the service. Interment following the service at Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, MN. Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Highway 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN 55009 is assisting the family.
