Donald "Donny" Nelson

Donald Eugene "Donny" Nelson, age 72 of Inver Grove Heights, MN, died on August 12, 2019.

Donny was born the eldest of seven children on April 5, 1947 in Austin, MN to Maynard E. and Susie (Rieken) Nelson.

He served with the US Army during Vietnam, and upon his honorable discharge in 1968, returned to work at the South St. Paul Stockyards.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his siblings and their families, Sandee McLain of Spring, TX, Dave (Ruthie) Sjoblom of Wanamingo, Cheryl Aird, Maynard Nelson, Jr., Greg Greenberg, and Steve (Rose) Greenberg of Star Prairie, WI. He is also survived by aunts and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 6 at 3:00 p.m., with fellowship and luncheon to follow, at Spring Garden Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls.

Private interment with full military honors will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
