Donald N. Rohr, 80 of Cannon Falls, passed away Monday morning, December 21, 2009 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls following a lengthy illness.
Donald N. Rohr was born November 9, 1929 in Hastings, Minnesota, the son of Peter and Marie (Mainz) Rohr. At an early age he attended St. Boniface School and later enlisted in the United States Army where he served in 1951. He was united in marriage to Shirley F. Miller on June 13, 1953 in Hastings. The couple made their home on a farm outside of Hastings and in 1964 moved to a farm north of Cannon Falls where they continued to make their home following his retirement in 1994. Donald will be known as a hard worker who was honest, enjoyed helping others and particularly enjoyed music & dancing.
Donald is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley, his children; Jeanette (Tom) Pries of Eyota, Kenneth (Lisa) Rohr of Cannon Falls, Marion Gergen & fiance’, Ernest Hendren of Franksville, WI, Ronald Rohr and Maureen (Charles) Sabrowsky all of Cannon Falls, Dolores (Andy) Kornkven of Northfield, Donna (John) Lindahl & Gordon (Sarah) Rohr all of Cannon Falls, 20 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his brother, Edmund (Carol) Rohr and his sister, Mary Jean (John) Engstrom all of Hastings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Gerald, Jerome, Eugene & Larry and three sisters; Charlotte, Evelyn & Sharon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 410 W. Colville Street, Cannon Falls, with the Reverend Jay K. Kythe officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls and one hour prior at church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the State Services for the Blind, the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
